If a student is selected by their school, to participate in the Simcoe County Regional Science Fair, their teacher will provide them with a letter providing some important information to make their Simcoe County Regional Science Fair experience as enjoyable and stress-free as possible.

Students can also download this letter (pdf format), here, if another copy is required.

Introduction

Congratulations on deciding to participate in the Simcoe County Regional Science and Technology Fair!

If your school holds a science fair, please talk with your school's science fair coordinator to make sure you don't miss any of the upcoming deadlines.

If your school doesn't hold a science fair, talk to your classroom or science teacher. He or she is likely to be your best resource in starting a great science fair project. Then have your teacher contact us to let us know that you are ready to join in on the fun.

Before you start:

Be sure to read over all the Rules and Regulations and complete required forms to make sure your project will meet the ethical and safety requirements expected of all science fair participants in Simcoe County.

You have questions? PLEASE don't hesitate to Contact Us.

Getting Started

The first step in starting Science Fair project is to check out the local fair information (e.g. deadlines) and the awards that you can apply for. The list of awards and previous winning projects may give you ideas.

The next step is to research the making of a good science fair project. Develop a good understanding of the scientific process, especially the options in terms of experiments, innovations or studies. Please look at the rules and regulations to make sure you are aware of projects that are inappropriate and forms that need to be completed.

Please look at the resources page for more tips and ideas.

Good Luck!

Partner Projects

Talk to your teacher about the registration process but after he/she registers your project it is the student's responsibility to add your partner to the on-line registration (SFIAB). Registration is not complete until you print out the Signature Page (The system won't allow you to print it until all other sections are complete). It is a lot of work getting the projects organized and registering on time is essential! If you have registration issues please contact us.

Supervision

The SCRSTF Committee
is not responsible for
the supervision of students.

Students must be supervised at the Regional Fair at all times, regardless of age.
A parent or adult guardian must be supervising students and be aware of their responsibility at all times.
